WCPA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist adults 60 or older with a wide range of services to facilitate independent living and delay premature institutionalization. Among our many services are nutritious congregate and home delivered meals, household aides, transportation, information, and trained experienced WCPA staff all geared specifically to the needs of seniors with services either “donations accepted” or with minimal fees due to agency funding.
Professional In-Home Health Services
WCPA’s Home Health services provide skilled nursing care by registered nurses to patients in their homes. This care can enable a patient to come home from the hospital sooner. It may also enable a person to remain at home rather than go to a nursing home. The care is provided under the direction of the patient’s physician. Our mission is to provide comprehensive home care, integrated with supporting community based services.
Community Care Program
This service, part of a funded Community Care Program, is available to people aged 60 and over in Williamson and Franklin Counties. Household aides (referred to as “homemakers”) are trained to work in homes to provide assistance with basic household tasks including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, essential shopping, and light work needed to maintain the home. [Note: A fee may be charged for these services depending on the client’s income level.]
Caregiver Respite Aides
In order to give in home family caregivers some relief to allow for out-of-home activities without leaving the homebound unattended WCPA has trained personnel who may be scheduled for visits. The visits are scheduled according to program eligibility requirements.
Home Delivered Meals
This program provides a hot noon meal to the homebound, ages 60 and older. Volunteers deliver the meals from central locations throughout Williamson county. [There is a suggested donation.]
Congregate Meals
Individuals aged 60 or older (and spouse) are eligible for this program. WCPA provides a hot nutritious meal in a congregate setting:
-5 days a week at the Herrin Center, in Johnston City and Hurst
-3 days a week at Carterville and Creal Springs
-2 days a week at Colp Community Center and at the Pittsburg Village Hall
Transportation
This service is provided for county residents of all ages. It allows people to obtain transportation for any purpose (except medical emergencies). Buses are designated to be in specific communities on regularly scheduled days. For people aged 60 and over, a donation is suggested. General public riders pay the required fee.
Social Services
This service provides social service information to individuals upon request. If it requires the assistance of another WCPA department, or an outside Social Service Agency, the referral is made and follow-up contact is made.
WCPA also assists with completing various application forms. Trained personnel and volunteers assist with Medicare, Medicaid, Income Tax and Insurance forms.
Outreach
WCPA Outreach Services, staffed by workers continually updated on current local, state and national assistance programs, visit the homes of county residents as requested, to identify their needs and assist them in getting the services to meet those needs.
Legal Services are available.
